Brain Injury Association's 23rd Annual Conference

 

"Self-Knowledge, Self-Determination

THANK YOU to all of our sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and attendees!  We hope you had a wonderful experience at this year's conference.  From what we heard, it was acclaimed, "The best conference ever!"

 

The conference featured two keynotes, Kara Swanson, author of, "I'll Carry the Fork!" and Derrick Dufresne, nationally known self-determination expert. The conference included 40 workshops designed for professionals, people with brain injury, their families and friends. Topics ranged from TBI 101, self-determination, state-of-the-art developments in assistive technology, substance abuse, seizures, depression & spasticity, program & policy developments. CEU credits in several disciplines were approved. Many educational and fun events were planned for all participants.

Nominate an individual or organization that you feel should receive recognition at the Association's Annual Leadership Appreciation Luncheon scheduled during the annual Conference, October 14 -15, 2004.  Award Nomination Form (word document)  Call BIAOH if you need to form faxed or mailed to you.

Thursday Evening, October 14th - 6:30 - 8:30 pm - join us after the conference workshops and dinner (on your own) for an evening of music, dancing and socializing with your friends.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Continuing Education Unit Credit:

 

CEU contact hours are pending for:

  • Speech-Language-Hearing (AHSA) - should cover up to 1.0 CEU

CEU credit approved for:

  • Counselor and Social Worker approved for 10 clock hours CPE
  • CCMC (covers CCMs) approved for 10.5 hours
  • CRCC (covers CRC, CCRC, CRC-MAC, CRC-CS, CRC-MAC-CS) approved for 10.5 hours
  • Legal approved for 3.0 CLE (3 specific workshops)
  • MRDD approved for Adult Services, Case Management, Early Intervention, Investigative Agent, Supt/Asst Supt (Services/Programs/Support Stream) and County Board Members, 1 CEU per keynote/workshop attended
  • OT (covers Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants) - approved for 10.5 hours
  • Substance Abuse (RCH) approved for 5.0 RCH

Other:

  • Educators, Psychologists & other professionals may register independently with their professional associations for CEU credits.  At the conference, ask for an attendance verification sheet for this purpose.

The Department of Speech and Hearing Science of the Ohio State University is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology.
