BIAOH Board of Trustees

President

Jackie Stanton, Ph,D

I have been working in rehabilitation for 32+ years focusing primarily on career and work planning. Much of my practice has been serving persons with brain injury and related neurocognitive health conditions. I attended Ohio University for undergraduate work in Social Work and a Master of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling. I attended Kent State University for my PhD program in Counselor Education. I worked at MetroHealth for 32 years and have been a part time instructor at Kent State University and John Carroll University.

I am from Cleveland and I am not a fan of the winters here! I have been a board member for BIOAH for a long time. I forget how many years :) I have also served as Secretary.

My two passions are advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities and how assistance dogs and therapy dogs can help us heal!

DeAnna Frye, Ph.D., Cleveland Clinic Akron General

Paul Barlak

Secretary

Melissa Volk - Cleveland State University

It is important for me to serve on the BIAOH board as I’ve had a unique perspective of working with TBI patients weekly and also have gone through recovery of a TBI with a family member. I feel like this helps me relate well with families and survivors because not only do I work with the patients, but I’ve lived it as a family member of an individual with a TBI.
