GIVING TUESDAY IS COMING - HELP THE HELPLINE!

The Brain Injury Association of Ohio is the only organization in the State of Ohio that provides a professionally staffed Helpline dedicated to assisting brain injury survivors, their families or anyone needing information or assistance related to brain injury. Tuesday, November 27th is Giving Tuesday. Help us raise the $20,000 needed to staff the Helpline this year!

In 2018 our Helpline specialist helped families:

  • Arrange for medical transportation from England to the US for a survivor who sustained a brain injury while traveling and similar transportation for a young Ohio resident injured in Utah in an ATV accident.

  • Connect an isolated brain injury survivor with a senior group, inspiring the survivor to overcome physical and cognitive limitations caused by the brain injury in order to regularly volunteer, benefiting both the seniors and the survivor.

  • Divert a young brain injury survivor from jail to much-needed community resources and family support to constructively address issues caused the brain injury and allow the survivor an opportunity to recover and rehabilitate.

These are just a few of the requests for assistance that our Helpline receives. Our Helpline often receives over 40 calls in one month!  Our part-time, professionally trained staff person responds to each call in addition to email messages requesting assistance and says "[A]nswering the BIAOH Helpline is the hardest, and most rewarding job I have ever had."

Can you help?  Please consider making a donation to the Brain Injury Association of Ohio this year to support our Helpline.  Donations may be sent to the Brain Injury Association of Ohio, P.O. Box 21325, Columbus, Ohio 43221 or may be made through PayPal using the DONATE button above.

BIAOH OFFERS A TBI SURVIVOR CARD

Brain injuries may have long-lasting or even life-long effects.  Individuals who have survived a brain injury and are managing their symptoms sometimes need assistance when communicating with someone who is not familiar with brain injuries.  BIAOH is here to help by offering a Brain Injury Survivor Card!  This card may be used by any brain injury survivor to help others understand the symptoms of a brain injury and effective ways of interacting with our survivors.  If you would like a Survivor Card, please contact our Helpline by calling (614) 481-7100 or by emailing help@biaoh.org.
